Persy Snow Balls are the item on this menu that confuses people most, because they are not capped flower at all. There is no bud inside. They are hash the whole way through, hand-rolled into spheres and finished in a shell of sifted kief — and they behave nothing like the rest of the range.
What “Persy” means
It is short for Persian, a reference to the traditional hand-rolled hash method. In current trade use it also carries a second sense — personal reserve, the top fraction an extractor would hold back rather than sell by the gram. Both readings point at the same thing: this is the good material, prepared slowly.
Full melt, and the grading scale
The grade describes how cleanly the resin melts under heat. Full melt means it melts almost completely, leaving minimal residue behind. You will see hash described on an informal one-to-six star scale, with five and six covering full melt.
That scale is set by producers rather than any regulator, so treat it as a useful signal rather than a certification. The physical test is more reliable than the number: put a small piece on a hot nail or a screen. It should bubble and go nearly clear, leaving a light ring at most. Low-grade hash bulked with plant material chars instead, and leaves a black, gritty residue that will not wipe off.
How to tell a real one
Three things. It melts, as above. It is slightly soft at room temperature and firms up in the cold — rock-hard at room temperature means pressed, not full-melt. And no two spheres are identical, because they were rolled by hand. A tray of perfectly uniform, identically sized balls has almost certainly been machine-formed from cheaper material.
The irregularity that looks like a flaw is the quality signal.
How to smoke them
Not in a joint. Putting full-melt material in paper wastes the thing you paid for, because most of it burns before it reaches you.
A dry pipe works. Dropping a sphere whole into a bowl of flower works better — the flower gives the hash something to burn against and the whole thing goes down slowly. If you have a hash rig or a screen, use it.
Do not put these anywhere near a grinder. A Persy sphere will coat the teeth and threads thoroughly enough to ruin it for anything else.
Storage
Sealed, cool and dark. Cold firms them up and makes them far easier to handle, so a cool drawer is ideal — but let one come back to room temperature before you smoke it. Handle them briefly; warmth from your hands softens the surface and the kief shell starts to transfer.
Who they are for
This is not a daily smoke and it is not priced like one. Persy Snow Balls are what you buy when you already have something ordinary sorted and want a flavour product to set aside. If you want potency and convenience instead, KAWS Rocks or Snow Cones are the better value. If you want the same solventless philosophy in a capped flower format, that is Ice Capz.
Current runs — including the Persy Snowcaps and Snowball Minis editions — are listed at snowcapweed.com. Editions rotate and do not usually return in the same form.
